Workspace & Studio Navigation
The modeling studio runs in a continuous spatial workspace combining an infinite visual canvas with floating contextual toolbars that react to your current selections.
Studio Workspace Layout
The workspace is organized into four distinct functional zones:
| Workspace Area | Location | Primary Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Top Command Bar | Top of screen | Switch projects, verify access level, monitor project entity totals, adjust visual overlay colors, and export project data. |
| Left Navigation Deck | Left floating dock | Slide-out inventory drawers to configure Deliverable Streams, Contours, Roles, Physical Assets, Twins, and Plans. |
| Main Canvas | Center workspace | Infinite visual grid for placing blocks, drawing connections, exploring nested sub-diagrams, and displaying simulation routes. |
| Contextual Inspector | Right slide-out drawer | Appears when a component is clicked to configure work cycles, system definitions, communication delays, and relations. |
Canvas Controls & Shortcuts
| Action | Input | Visual Result |
|---|---|---|
| Pan Workspace | Left-Click on empty canvas + Drag | Glides your view smoothly across the diagram in any direction. |
| Zoom Viewport | Scroll Mouse Wheel | Magnifies or shrinks the view centered on your mouse cursor (supports 0.2× to 10× zoom). |
| Select Component | Left-Click directly on a block | Highlights the item and opens its inspector drawer on the right. |
| Deselect / Close | Left-Click on empty canvas | Clears active selections and closes the right-hand inspector drawer. |
| Move Component | Hold Ctrl + Left-Click + Drag | Reposition a block on the grid. Connected arrows stretch and stay attached automatically. |
| Connect Components | Hold Shift + Click Block A, then Block B | Draws a directional connection arrow from Block A to Block B. |
| Context Menu | Right-Click (Canvas or Component) | Opens quick options to add blocks, remove connections, or dive into nested sub-diagrams. |
💡 Pro Tip: Safe Canvas Exploration
Dragging a block without holding Ctrl pans the canvas instead of moving the component. This design ensures you can navigate large blueprints without accidentally displacing your layout.
Navigating Nested Sub-Diagrams
Complex architectures can be split into multi-level hierarchies so top-level views remain clean:
- Step Inside (Drill Down): Right-Click any component and select Navigate Down (
↓). The canvas will transition into that block's internal sub-diagram. - Step Outside (Return Up): Right-Click any empty area on the canvas and select Navigate Up (
↑) to climb back out to the parent diagram.
