Platform Overview & Mental Model

Understand the core concepts of organizational digital twins, contours, and artifact execution pipelines.

Platform Overview & Mental Model

The platform is a systems architecture and organizational design studio that turns static strategy diagrams into living, computable operational models with automated timeline simulations and cost forecasting.

ℹ️ Purpose
Rather than maintaining static architecture slides and disconnected financial spreadsheets, the platform lets you model your organization, software, and physical pipelines as an integrated, testable system.

The Core Building Blocks

The studio structures complex organizations across distinct modeling perspectives:

Contours (Architecture Boundaries)
Structural boundaries that group components into four distinct viewpoints: Business (teams, organizational units), Application (software services, APIs), Infrastructure (servers, networks, facilities), and Security (compliance zones, perimeters).
Components & Graphs
Visual building blocks placed on an infinite canvas that represent departments, servers, microservices, physical machinery, or work locations.
Deliverable Streams
Dynamic deliverables—such as requirement specs, design assets, software code, prototypes, or physical assemblies—moving through connected components.
Work Cycles & Transfers
Cycles define the actual processing time, state changes, and equipment usage occurring inside a component. Transfers define communication delays and routing priority between components.
Digital Twins & Operational Plans
Digital Twins combine multiple architectural contours into a single unified model. Plans coordinate reactive workflows that launch downstream tasks when key delivery milestones are reached.

The Built-in RACI Governance Engine

Accountability is assigned directly to diagram elements, removing the need for separate tracking matrices:

RACI Role Where It Is Configured Governance Responsibility
Accountable (A) Contour Boundaries & Component Definitions Owns structural departments, architectural compliance, and organizational perimeters.
Responsible (R) Work Cycles Executes hands-on tasks and advances a deliverable from one stage to the next.
Consulted (C) Component Dependencies & Relations Subject matter expert consulted whenever connection dependencies change.
Informed (I) Deliverable Streams Kept notified on pipeline progress, delivery milestones, and pipeline bottlenecks.

Quick Workflow: Your First Model

Follow this sequence to construct your first living system:

  1. Create a Project: Set your project name, baseline operational timeframe, and base currency.
  2. Define Boundaries: Add Contours to separate your architectural layers (e.g., Business vs. Application).
  3. Draft Components: Place blocks onto the canvas and connect them with directional arrows.
  4. Provision Deliverable Streams: Create a pipeline deliverable (e.g., "System Architecture Spec" or "Firmware Build").
  5. Assign Work & Roles: Open the component inspector to configure work duration, state progressions, and responsible roles.
  6. Simulate & Export: Run route simulations (Quickest, Cheapest, Optimal) and export standardized Value Stream Maps or UML diagrams.
